This is where stuff that won't fit on the Shellac Shanty or AudiOddities blogs. Lounge, funk, or just stuff that I happen to like run through my addled brain. Eclectica forever!

The Martin Denny Went Bye Bye

OK, I blew it again... the Martin Denny post I had went bye bye.

Here's the pic:

Here's Side 1:
Opening Announcements
Rain
Hilo March
Hawaiian Wedding Song
Volga Boatmen
Black Orchid

Here's Side 2
Pretty Maui Girl
Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai
Lei Aloha Lei Makamae
On The Beach At Waikiki
Ol' Man River

Quick review: Not as tiki, but some very serious swinging jazz here... lots of innovation, and done live, too! The announcer on side 1 is [Honolulu radio station] KPOI's Tom Moffatt, and the gig was recorded on-scene at Duke Kahanamoku's in more-or-less downtown Honolulu. Released on Liberty Records in the early to mid 1960s, and I don't think I have ever seen this on CD, it beats bad poi and spoiled coconut milk, definately!

Sorry about the truncated post, and we'll be back with nore stuff later!
